At the peak of the drought afflicting the Western Province of Zambia in 2004 and 2005 funds provided by the Alan Kerins African Projects fed over 700 families in the region.Since the drought has subsided the aim of the charity has been to promote and fund more sustainable solutions.
Whether it
is the teaching of modern, effective and sustainable farming techniques or the
teaching of reading and writing to local children, education is central to the
goals of the Alan Kerins African Projects.

Let’s Debate, which took place in NUIG over the weekend, was a fantastic success for all involved. The student debating challenge, inspired by Alan Kerins Projects, was won by Eddie Muka & Nicy Kasa of St. Enda’s College, Galway. From start to finish the hugely positive and uplifting day saw students from all over the West and North West learn new debating and communication skills. President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, sent a very generous message of support to all students and congratulated the organisers on the event.
A charity concert will be held on 25th March at 7.45 pm in a beautiful hall in the Royal College of Surgeons, St. Stephen's Green, with a drinks reception in the adjoining elaborate board room.
